Experimental Projects

This was a project where I was assigned to create a logo using at least three AI generated logos as a reference. It was required to be a logo for a veterinarian using a dog, a cat, and a bird. I used this as a prompt in the text to vector tool in Adobe Illustrator to create a lot of different logos. The three I used most as inspiration are pictured below. I learned from this project that, though it does not create good finished products, AI can sometimes be helpful to create a lot of iterations for inspiration. I think it is really helpful to have students do a little work with AI because it is such a huge topic in the modern world, including in the design world.

P.S. The bar of color at the bottom of the first and the weird gray sidelines on the other two are original to the AI image and it pains me to have them on my website!

This was another experimental project where I was instructed to use the image trace feature in Adobe Illustrator to turn a photo of myself into vector and then edit it to smooth it out. I appreciated this project because, like the AI logo project, forced me to interact with new technologies. I did not enjoy the actual image trace though because the way it creates images is very sloppy and overcomplicated. It can be used to create almost photorealistic images on the highest setting, but the work it does is very hard to edit manually.
